Kim Kardashian fiercely defended her daughter against haters who scrutinized her youngster's performance in "The Lion King." In May 2024, Kardashian's eldest, North West, stole the spotlight as Simba during a live concert at the iconic Hollywood Bowl, marking the 30th anniversary of the beloved Disney classic.

Footage of North's energetic rendition quickly went viral, capturing her singing with boundless enthusiasm. However, many netizens weren't as enchanted, suggesting that Disney should have opted for a more traditionally trained child actor for the iconic role.

One critic ventured on TikTok, "I attended the event. While it would have shone at a school talent show, with so many talented young performers available, she didn't deserve the Hollywood Bowl stage." Another echoed, "North West's performance in 'The Lion King' was underwhelming. Her family and production team did her a disservice by allowing her to proceed. Not every child excels in everything, and they need to learn that. There were probably dozens of experienced kids who should have been cast instead."

In Season 6, Episode 3 of "The Kardashians," Kardashian anticipated the impending backlash. In a heartfelt confession, she admitted that North secured the role due to nepotism and that she foresaw criticism regarding her daughter's vocal prowess.

"I'm fully aware of what's coming—she's no Whitney Houston. Obviously, she landed the gig because of her parents," she candidly stated. Nevertheless, Kardashian emphasized that "North is the star of the moment," attracting crowds just by being herself.

"The public wants to see North West on TikTok, everywhere, because she's a character, a performer," she explained. For anyone daring to criticize her daughter's performance, Kardashian had some harsh words: "If anyone dares to hate on a child living their best moment, then screw you."

Proudly, Kardashian boasted about North's achievement. "As a mom, it's incredibly fulfilling to witness your child having so much fun without a hint of nervousness," she said. "North is immensely proud of herself. She did an outstanding job. And anyone hating on a child is just a hater; she's not aiming to be Mariah Carey."

The episode's opening delved into how North secured the opportunity and Kardashian's internal conflict about allowing her to accept it. According to the show, Disney approached the family with the offer.

"I'm so conflicted," Kardashian confessed over the phone to her sister Khloé. She expressed her fear of people being mean. "I'm torn about letting her do this. She's not a singer; she's a rapper. She's been on stage with her dad, sure, but putting her on a platform with so many opinions as a mom—it's a lot to ponder," she said.

Yet, North's enthusiasm was unmistakable. "Immediately, she pleaded, 'Please, Mom, I want to do it,'" Kardashian recounted. Ultimately, she gave her blessing, saying she "believed in her."

The episode also offered a glimpse into dress rehearsals and North in costume. "I'm thrilled to be doing this," North exclaimed.

Kardashian also wrestled with her role as North's "mom-ager." "I'm not quite ready to be a mom-ager. But if there's something sensible she wants to pursue, I'll consider it. I loved this for her," she shared.
