Actor Kim Soo-hyun has embarked on a legal offensive against a YouTuber, accusing them of blackmail, as confirmed by his legal representative from LKB & Partners on Monday. This lawsuit signifies a new peak in the escalating legal drama between Kim and Hoverlab, a YouTube channel that previously accused the "Queen of Tears" star of having an inappropriate relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron when she was underage.
According to the law firm, Kim Se-ui, the operator behind Hoverlab, purportedly issued a threat: to release a video clip unless Disney+ withdrew its Korean original series "Knock-Off," which stars Kim in the leading role. Consequently, on Friday, the global streaming giant announced it would temporarily halt its plans to release the series due to the ongoing controversy.
Furthermore, the law firm strongly condemned the channel for invoking the notorious Nth Room sex crime scandal during a live broadcast, implicitly suggesting that the actor was entangled in similar misdeeds. "The assertion is utterly false and amounts to a heinous criminal act," the firm declared.
In a separate incident last week, Kim filed a complaint against the YouTuber for sharing a picture of him taken from behind, sans trousers. Since March 10, when the initial allegations against him emerged, Kim has been engulfed in a whirlwind of controversy.
