According to legal documents procured by PEOPLE, Kim Zolciak-Biermann and Kroy Biermann were compelled to vacate their opulent Georgia mansion by U.S. Marshals, a stark twist that unfolded three months after they had officially sold the property. This opulent Alpharetta abode, which had become a flashpoint in their ongoing divorce proceedings, exchanged hands for a cool $2.8 million in January, as confirmed by property records.

Tragedy struck for the estranged couple when, exactly three months post-sale, they were unceremoniously "ejected" from their once-beloved home by U.S. Marshals, as detailed in a writ of possession dated April 9. This legal document mandated the marshals to remove Kim, 47, and Kroy, 39, alongside all their belongings, and to hand over the premises in full possession to the new owners. The eviction transpired between 3:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. local time on Tuesday, April 8. A spokesperson for Kim declined to comment on the matter.

Ironically, on the very day of their eviction, Kim was actively promoting the sale of furniture from their mansion on her Instagram Story, starting with her daughter Ariana Biermann's bedroom set. "Ariana’s bedroom furniture is up for grabs, a $10,000 hand-painted set in perfect condition," captioned Kim alongside a vibrant image of her daughter's fully furnished bedroom in their former abode. Originally purchased for $43,657, the furniture included a canopy platform bed, sky blue dressers, a multi-colored wardrobe, a white desk with a cheetah-print chair, among other decor items, all available for "pick-up only."

Kim and Kroy share custody of Ariana, 23, whom Kroy legally adopted alongside her sister Brielle, 28, in July 2013. The couple is also parents to four more children: Kroy "KJ" Jagger Jr., 14, Kash Kade, 12, and twins Kaia Rose and Kane Ren, 11.

The sale of the mansion came on the heels of a harrowing month for the Bravo star and former NFL player, as their home faced foreclosure and was slated for public auction. According to a notice obtained by PEOPLE, Truist Bank had scheduled the auction for December 3, 2024, and the property also featured on the Fulton County foreclosure list. The home was previously set for auction after the couple defaulted on a $1.65 million loan in February 2023, although a source revealed to PEOPLE shortly thereafter that the estranged pair had taken steps to rectify the situation.

Initially, Kim and Kroy listed their home for sale at $6 million in October 2023, nearly two months after Kroy filed for divorce from Kim for the second time in August of that year. The couple, who tied the knot in November 2011, officially separated in May 2023 after twelve years of marriage. Boasting seven bedrooms, a six-car garage, billiard and arcade rooms, a gym with a private massage room, a 500-bottle walk-in wine cellar, a heated pool, and a home theater, the mansion was a veritable palace, as described by Zillow.
