Kim Zolciak is shedding light on her financial affairs with unprecedented candor. The 47-year-old former star of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" recently joined Kristin Cavallari's live podcast series, "Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour," where she addressed the public scrutiny surrounding her personal life. Among the myriad topics discussed, Zolciak's tumultuous divorce from Kroy Biermann after a dozen years of marriage has garnered considerable attention. However, she cautioned listeners not to swallow everything they hear at face value.
"First and foremost, I chuckle when people inform me that I squandered all of Kroy's money," Zolciak confessed during her appearance, which was featured in a recent episode of Cavallari's podcast, "Let's Be Honest." "The truth is, I've earned far more than Kroy. His final NFL season was in 2015, and it's now 2025. He only landed a job in March of 2024," she clarified.
"I've bustled my tail off to sustain my family and children. This man hasn't contributed a dime towards household expenses in years. Even after securing a job, he hasn't footed any bills for our home – not even for my kids' clothing or extracurricular activities," she asserted, emphasizing her role as the primary breadwinner.
Highlighting her impressive work ethic, Zolciak noted that she had filmed four shows in the past four years and couldn't fathom why people pitied Biermann, 39. "When I announced my intention to divorce him, his mission was to publicly destroy me and ensure I'd never work again," she alleged. "He attempted it, but it failed miserably."
"This is actually the first time I'm opening up about this," she remarked. "I recently moved into my brand-new house ten days ago, and I finally feel secure enough to speak out. I've kept quiet all this time to shield my children."
Throughout the episode, Zolciak, who shares six children with the ex-football player, expressed exasperation over their financial squabbles amidst their divorce. The couple had earlier grappled with foreclosure on their Georgia mansion before selling it, along with their furniture.
Zolciak accused Biermann of "stealing" from her and her eldest daughter. "He took every piece of jewelry I'd ever owned before meeting him, as well as Brielle's, and sold it all," she alleged, referring to her 28-year-old daughter, Brielle Biermann. "Every single piece I've ever possessed. I only had my engagement ring and earrings left because I had concealed them in my bra," she revealed.
"Apart from that, he also stole 20 of my most luxurious handbags," she claimed. "Amidst all this theft and our home being emptied out, I had to borrow money from friends – even my own daughters came to my aid. It's been absolutely insane."
The singer of "Tardy for the Party" acknowledged that her ability to work had been a "blessing from heaven," but conceded that life had been overwhelming lately. Ariana Biermann, her daughter, also disclosed that she had been lending money to her mother during the premiere of "Next Gen NYC."
During an interview with PEOPLE earlier this month, Ariana offered further insights into their complex financial situation. "Money creates awkwardness, and I despise how it can alter people," the 23-year-old confessed. "I've made a concerted effort not to let it strain my relationship with my mom – she's my closest confidant. This wasn't anyone's intention, and we haven't allowed it to affect our bond."
Joking about her financial status, Ariana said, "People have a misconception about my money situation and assume I'm rolling in dough. I'm like, absolutely not the case." Looking ahead, Ariana expressed her unwavering support for her mother, highlighting the importance of family.
"My mom has filmed a few shows, which is amazing, but it takes time to receive payments," she said of Zolciak. "Although my mom always repays me, things have definitely improved. She's working tirelessly."
