Kristen Stewart, a legendary figure whose illustrious acting career has endeared her to millions, has recently spoken out about the imperative for expanded opportunities for women within the film industry. The actress, renowned for her captivating role in "Twilight," has voiced her perspectives on the persistent challenges confronted by women in Hollywood, asserting that the moment for genuine transformation has arrived.
At 35, Stewart ventured behind the camera for the very first time with "The Chronology of Water," a compelling biographical drama. However, she conceded that bringing this project to fruition was far from a smooth endeavor, demanding immense effort and steadfast determination.
Sharing her experiences with IndieWire, the Hollywood star revealed, "This wasn't accomplished in isolation. I had to indulge in a couple of very public outbursts to ensure the right ears were tuned in." She continued, "I was fortunate to collaborate with the exceptional Charles Gillibert, who has produced films like 'On the Road,' 'Personal Shopper,' and 'Clouds of Sils Maria.' He grasps that [women] require assistance, and we desperately need a boost."
"It took an eternity to make this happen. Literally, it felt like it stretched on forever," she admitted.
Yet, after auditioning Imogen Poots for the role of Lidia Yuknavitch, Stewart eventually gained the confidence that she could breathe life into the film. The actress-turned-director heaped praise on the 35-year-old Imogen for her outstanding performance.
Stewart added, "She's a living, breathing theme. Just observe her eyes." She recounted, "Visually, I was utterly captivated when her face filled my Zoom screen during our pseudo-audition. I remember thinking, 'Oh my God, this movie might actually come to life.'"
Stewart harbors the hope that "The Chronology of Water" will catalyze genuine change within the film industry.
