Sophia Umansky, the daughter of Kyle Richards, has fired back at critics who questioned her decision to use Mounjaro, a weight-loss medication, amid her public struggle with dramatic hair loss. During an interview with People on Saturday, the reality TV star defiantly stated, "Those who claim I don't need this drug clearly have no medical expertise. They're not physicians."
"I urge everyone to chill out and mind their own business," she continued. "Honesty is key in life; lying serves no purpose and is detrimental." The 25-year-old emphasized that her transparency about taking Mounjaro, a Type II diabetes drug she repurposed for weight loss, rendered judgments and hatred baseless. "I've been upfront about it; I own my choice," she insisted, adding, "I always disclose my use of Mounjaro, and I consult with a doctor, obviously."
Umansky, a former cast member of "Buying Beverly Hills," revealed that her mother, 56-year-old Richards, stands by her and her sister's decisions. "I'm an adult at 25; I can make my own choices," she asserted. "Mom guides us, of course." She clarified that her mother initially advised caution regarding the medication but ultimately supported her after consulting doctors.
The influencer also addressed speculation about body dysmorphia, affirming, "I found myself adorable before and still do now." She added, "Striving to boost one's confidence and appearance isn't wrong." Comparing her situation to others who undergo cosmetic procedures, she reasoned, "People regularly get fillers, Botox, and other treatments. So, why not me if I want to feel a bit cuter?"
Umansky's comments follow her recent revelation on TikTok about starting Mounjaro earlier this year and experiencing subsequent hair loss. "I'll be bald in a week," she joked, showcasing clumps of hair she had shed in the shower.
Richards shares Sophia, Alexia Simone Umansky, 28, and Portia Umansky, 17, with her estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky. She is also the mother of Farrah Brittany Aldjufrie, 36.
