La Toya Jackson Addresses Janet Jackson, Jermaine Jackson Feud Rumors

Published: Apr 24 2026

Absolutely no ill-will exists between these siblings. In the midst of rumors suggesting a rift between Janet Jackson and Jermaine Jackson, La Toya Jackson set the record straight at the Los Angeles premiere of the biopic "Michael." "There was absolutely no problem whatsoever," La Toya told Entertainment Tonight at the film's premiere on April 20. "And please believe it."

In "Michael," which hits theaters on April 24, Jaafar Jackson, son of Jermaine, portrays the legendary King of Pop. The film follows Michael's meteoric rise to superstardom as a solo artist after his years in The Jackson 5, a group that included him and his siblings: Jackie Jackson, 74, Jermaine, 71, Marlon Jackson, 69, and Tito Jackson, who passed away in 2024.

Michael's sister Janet, however, is noticeably absent from the biopic. According to La Toya, the "All For You" singer was approached to be featured in the Antoine Fuqua-directed film but chose not to participate. "She was asked and she kindly declined," La Toya told Variety on April 20. "So you have to respect her wishes."

As for whether any of her other siblings would be portrayed in a potential second installment of "Michael," La Toya said the answer isn't necessarily black or white. "I'm not sure," she explained to ET. "That's a question for the producers and the filmmaker, and the studio." She added, "I hope so."

While Michael's estate is involved in the project and "Beat It" singer's son Prince Jackson executive produced the film, his daughter Paris Jackson has been vocal about her criticism of Michael. However, La Toya has only positive feedback to say about the biopic, including Jaafar's portrayal of her late brother.

"I've seen the movie and it's fabulous—absolutely fantastic," she told E! News' Will Marfuggi at the Los Angeles premiere. "He just embodied my brother and I'm so proud."
