Lady Gaga continues to prioritize her unwavering support for the LGBTQ+ community. In a recent interview on the iHeartPodcast series, Las Culturistas, the 38-year-old megastar, famous for her hit "Born This Way," reminisced about her empowering speech in defense of the transgender community during the 2025 Grammys, where she accepted the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance alongside Bruno Mars for their song "Die with a Smile."
On February 2nd, amidst the glittering ceremony at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Gaga concluded her heartfelt acceptance speech with poignant words, echoing to the masses, "Tonight, I must emphasize that trans individuals are not invisible. They deserve love. The queer community deserves to be celebrated and upheld."
A long-standing champion for LGBTQ+ rights, Gaga shared with Las Culturistas hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers that this poignant moment was an "absolute honor" for her. "I vowed to myself that if I were to win a Grammy that evening, I would use my platform to voice support for an issue of utmost importance—protecting and cherishing a community that faces violence," she revealed.
Addressing the queer community directly, Gaga added, "It is my privilege to be part of this incredible tapestry, and this shared language is how we connect. Thank you for enlightening me about the intricacies of this world. I couldn't be who I am without the stories, authenticity, and raw truthfulness of the individuals I've met."
The artist behind "Abracadabra" also spoke fondly of her "countless gay friends" who entrust her with their "truth," which she considers a "priceless gift." Gaga emphasized, "Being part of the LGBTQ+ community is a privilege, and I know I would not be the same person without it." She then proudly declared "Born This Way" as "undoubtedly my most cherished album to date."
Released in 2012, this album—especially its title track—served as a beacon of hope and celebration for the LGBTQ+ community, drawing inspiration from Gaga's personal interactions and experiences with them. "Born This Way was a fusion of my inspiration drawn from the queer community, my deep love for them, and my involvement in the techno-rock, electro-rock, and underground New York metal scenes," she explained. "This amalgamation truly defines who I am, and it still does."
With her latest album, Mayhem, now available, Gaga stressed, "I believe this is a crucial time for us all to be genuine with one another and ask for what we need from each other."
Las Culturistas is proudly presented by iHeartMedia in collaboration with Will Ferrell's Big Money Players Network.
