Lady Gaga is now sharing the intimate details of one of her most tumultuous chapters, revealing the struggles she faced with her mental health during the making of her 2017 film A Star is Born and her Joanne World Tour. "I did A Star Is Born on lithium," Gaga told Rolling Stone in an interview published on November 13th. "There was one day that my sister said to me, 'I don't see my sister anymore.' And I canceled the tour."

The "Bad Romance" singer further explained that during this time, she sought psychiatric care in a hospital, realizing she needed a break. "I couldn't do anything...I completely crashed. It was really scary. There was a time where I didn't think I could get better," she said.
Fortunately, receiving the help she needed saved Gaga's life and allowed her to celebrate the film's success in 2018, which included Grammy and Oscar wins for her performance opposite Bradley Cooper. "I feel really lucky to be alive," the 39-year-old emphasized. "We know how this can go."
Gaga's mental health wasn't the only area affected during her work. According to the singer, she wasn't in a good place while filming 2021's House of Gucci. "I don't think I was doing very well during that film," she said. "At all."
However, today, Gaga reveals that she is "a healthy, whole person" and credits her fiancé, Michael Polansky—whom she began dating in 2019—for helping her get to this place. "Being in love with someone who cares about the real me made a very big difference," she recalled of Michael's support. "What he saw was this is somebody that feels very far away from what they're supposed to be doing. He wanted to take care of me. And I've never been loved that way before. My life was serious to him. It was not a party. He helped me see that my life was precious."
