This week, law enforcement sources informed The Times that Los Angeles police stumbled upon the macabre remains of two women within the confines of two distinct vehicles parked at local tow yards.
The grim discovery of the first woman's remains unfolded around 12:20 p.m. on Monday, as detailed by Los Angeles Police Officer Charles Miller. Police were summoned to Hollywood Tow on Mansfield Avenue after reports surfaced of a pungent, foul odor emanating from the front trunk of a vehicle. Detectives were promptly dispatched to probe the possibility of human remains being present.
According to police sources, the car in question was a Tesla bearing a Texas license plate, which had been towed from the upscale Bird Streets neighborhood nestled in the Hollywood Hills. The vehicle had lain abandoned for five days prior to the discovery. KTLA reported that earlier on Tuesday, the L.A. County medical examiner's office, still at the scene, was unable to determine the woman's gender due to the advanced stage of decomposition.
Another female body was uncovered on Tuesday, partially charred, inside a Honda Civic that had been logged as towed on August 25, as confirmed by two law enforcement sources who were not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation. The Civic was linked to a missing person report and was considered a separate incident from the one in the Hollywood Hills. Detectives made the grim find at a different tow yard.
Miller revealed that the Hollywood Hills case has been classified as a death investigation. The remains within that vehicle were described by a law enforcement source as a "head and torso," contained within a bag nestled in the trunk.
The vehicle was registered to David Anthony Burke, a musician better known by his stage name, D4vd, according to one of the law enforcement sources who was not permitted to discuss the investigation. The singer was slated to perform in Minneapolis on Tuesday as part of his world tour.
D4vd, pronounced "David," first captured the public's attention through TikTok, where he has amassed a following of 3.6 million fans.
