For LeAnn Rimes, the mantra "the show must go on" rang true during an unexpected onstage dilemma. The country music prodigy-turned-leading figure in her genre shared an Instagram video on June 21st, recounting her teeth falling out mid-performance at a concert over the weekend. The clip captured the 42-year-old recounting how, while belting out the 1996 fan-favorite "One Way Ticket (Because I Can)," she felt "something pop" in her mouth—revealing that a dental bridge, a remnant of prior dental surgeries, had dislodged from the front of her mouth.
Rimes confessed to "panicking," exclaiming "'Hold on!' and dashing to the side of the stage." With quick thinking, she "popped" the bridge back into place and resumed singing as if nothing had happened. She emphasized the necessity of transparency, stating, "I had to be honest with everyone and inform them of what was unfolding; otherwise, I would have had to abandon the stage."
Just a day prior, on June 20th, Rimes was scheduled to enchant audiences at the Skagit Casino Resort in Washington state. Throughout the remainder of the concert, she recounted how she had to constantly adjust her teeth, quipping, "I never realized how many 'Fs,' 'Ths,' and 'Shs' I have in my songs." Though admittedly "embarrassing," Rimes dubbed the experience "the most epic ever."
The two-time Grammy Award winner, who is married to actor Eddie Cibrian, expressed her desire for such an incident to remain a one-time occurrence: "I don't usually encounter firsts in my career—this was a first, and hopefully, a last."
In a subsequent video, seemingly posted backstage at another venue, Rimes sang a cover of Miley Cyrus' new track "More to Lose" from her recently released album "Something Beautiful." She playfully captioned the post, "This song is such a joy to sing, even when your bridge is clinging for dear life… when you've already lost your teeth and dignity on stage, you've got nothing more to lose." The former coach on "Voice Australia" and "Voice UK" is set to captivate audiences once more on July 12th in Honolulu, Hawaii, according to her website.
