During Variety's "Actors on Actors" segment, Teyana Taylor revealed that Leonardo DiCaprio had her on edge during the filming of their black comedy action thriller, "One Battle After Another." This was the first on-screen collaboration between the two, with DiCaprio and Taylor co-starring alongside Paul Thomas Anderson, who wrote, directed, and co-produced the film.
Teyana Taylor shared her experience working with Leonardo DiCaprio on the show, revealing that despite being great friends for a long time, they had never worked together before. She made it clear that she keeps her personal relationships separate from her professional life, stating, "This is still Leonardo DiCaprio, and I'm still just little old me. So I'm nervous." She praised his skills and talent not only as an actor but also as a mentor, saying he made her feel included and respected.
The 35-year-old actor shared further insight into their working relationship, saying, "But how he mentors, it doesn't feel like one is above the other; he meets me where I'm at. My job is to be present for my scene partners, and be present for my director and my DPs." Taylor confessed that she was already familiar with the warm and kind sides of her co-stars, DiCaprio and Sean Penn; hence, she was comfortable and able to perform her character to the best of her abilities.
Previously, at the premiere of their film, DiCaprio gushed over Taylor to E News. The Titanic star revealed, "She's got the best sense of humor. I knew when she was brought into this movie, I was like, 'This girl is gonna bring the heat.' And she did. She's an amazing hang. She's awesome." Furthermore, DiCaprio shared why the film's script caught his attention and his desire to work with Paul Thomas Anderson. He remarked, "I like films that have a lot of thought put into them. Paul has been tinkering around with the story for 20 years. It's really an unpredictable odyssey." Continuing further, he shared, "There are so many deceptive characters in this movie, there are so many interesting layers to it. But it's this insane sort of action comedy that has so many incredible actors, but the heart of it is about a father trying to get back to his daughter."
