The first set photos from Martin Scorsese's upcoming directorial venture have surfaced, showcasing the film's two leads, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, in vastly different avatars from their usual selves, indicating a significant transformation for their respective roles. Production on the film reportedly commenced last week in the Czech Republic.

Czech Republic outlet Blesk recently shared some intriguing photos of Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence from the set of "What Happens at Night" in Kolín. In the pictures, DiCaprio sports a black puffer jacket, a crisp white shirt, a belt, black pants, and polished black shoes. He also sports a pair of stylish spectacles and a rugged mustache. Meanwhile, Lawrence appears in a light brown coat layered over a beige turtleneck top and a sleek black skirt. In one of the photos, she can be seen wearing a hat, which she takes off in another, revealing a more casual yet still captivating look.

"What Happens at Night" follows Scorsese's previous directorial effort, "Killers of the Flower Moon." It also marks the filmmaker's seventh collaboration with DiCaprio, who starred in that film and prior movies: "Gangs of New York," "The Aviator," "The Departed," "Shutter Island," and "The Wolf of Wall Street." However, it is Lawrence's first time collaborating with the veteran filmmaker. Moreover, the film marks a reunion between DiCaprio and Lawrence, who previously collaborated on Adam McKay's "Don't Look Up."

Based on Peter Cameron's novel of the same name, the film's story revolves around a married couple who travel to a small snowy European town to adopt a baby. Upon arrival, they check into a cavernous yet largely deserted hotel. However, things quickly take a turn when they come across a host of colorful characters, including a flamboyant chanteuse, a depraved businessman, and a charismatic faith healer. Soon, the couple realizes they are in a very strange place and find themselves locked in a struggle to adopt their baby, during which it becomes apparent that they don't know all that much about one another despite building a life together.

Scorsese directed the film from Patrick Marber's screenplay. He and DiCaprio also produced the film via their production banners, Sikelia Productions and Appian Way Productions. In addition to DiCaprio and Lawrence, the film features Mads Mikkelsen, Jared Harris, and Patricia Clarkson.
