Lil Nas X has provided an update following his recent ordeal, offering insights into his experience post-arrest. Shortly after being released from custody and arraigned by a judge in Los Angeles on charges stemming from his recent incident, the "Old Town Road" hitmaker, Montero Lamar Hill by birth, broke his silence on Instagram Stories on August 26th. "Your girl is gonna be okay, boo," Lil Nas reassured his followers. "S--t’s gonna be all right."
While comforting his fans by asserting that he would pull through, the 26-year-old musician candidly admitted that the experience had been exceedingly daunting. "That was f--king terrifying," he continued, his voice tinged with emotion. "Those last four days were nothing short of harrowing. But your girl is gonna be all right."
The saga began on the early morning of August 21st, when Los Angeles police responded to a call about a nude individual wandering the streets of Ventura Boulevard. The individual in question was later identified as Lil Nas X. Footage obtained by TMZ later showed him striding down the road clad only in a pair of white cowboy boots and white briefs, occasionally striking poses and engaging in eye contact with a videographer.
According to a statement provided to E! News by the LAPD, "Upon arrival, the suspect charged at officers and was taken into custody. He was transported to a local hospital for a suspected overdose and subsequently arrested for battery on a police officer."
Lil Nas X has been slapped with three felony counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one felony count of resisting an executive officer, as per a press release from the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Should he be convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of five years in state prison. The "Industry Baby" rapper is slated to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on September 15th.
Four days after his arrest, Lil Nas X was arraigned by a judge on a $75,000 bail and was spotted exiting the Los Angeles Superior Court in Van Nuys, California, dressed in a blue inmate uniform and sandals. Prior to his court hearing, his attorney, Christy O’Connor, argued that there was no evidence of drug involvement, as reported by NBC News. She further highlighted the "remarkable" journey that Lil Nas X had undertaken thus far.
"Assuming the allegations here are true, this is an absolute aberration in this person’s life," O’Connor stated in court. "Nothing like this has ever happened to him."
Meanwhile, his father, Robert Stafford, expressed his son's deep remorse for the incident. "He’s going to get the help that he needs," he said. "Just keep him in your prayers and give him the same grace and mercy that God gives everyone."
