A representative from the Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Hill, will remain incarcerated through the weekend following his arrest early Thursday morning. Caught on camera wandering the streets of Studio City nearly nude and apparently in a delirious state, the rapper's arrest has sparked widespread concern.
According to the LAPD, Lil Nas X will be detained at Valley Jail in Van Nuys until Monday, citing "charge 69 (a) PC," a penal code that pertains to resisting or obstructing an officer. "The arrestee (Hill) cannot be cited out," the LAPD stated in an email. "It is mandatory that he appear before a judge before he is released, which is scheduled for Monday." As of now, it remains unclear what his current condition is, with representatives for the rapper declining to comment on the matter.
In the early hours of Thursday morning, TMZ captured footage of Lil Nas X strolling down a nearly deserted Ventura Boulevard, clad only in his underwear and a pair of pristine white cowboy boots. In a statement issued to THR yesterday, the LAPD revealed that Lil Nas X had "charged at officers and was subsequently taken into custody." "He was transported to a nearby hospital for a suspected overdose and was arrested for battery on a police officer," the LAPD elaborated.
Lil Nas X, who released his 'Days Before Dreamboy' EP in March, has been grappling with health issues throughout 2025. In April, he took to social media to share that he had experienced partial facial paralysis. A month later, he was forced to cancel his headline appearance at West Hollywood's Outloud pride music festival. A source close to the situation told THR that similar mental health struggles had led to his withdrawal from the event. At the time of the cancellation, the festival issued a statement expressing that "we've been in close contact with Lil Nas X and his team regarding an ongoing medical issue." "After my recent hospital visit, I, like all of you, must prioritize my health and strive to return to full strength," the rapper emphasized in a statement of his own.
