Lily Allen's latest studio album, "West End Girl," is not a direct quest for vengeance, despite the common assumption. The singer-actress, whose marriage to David Harbour, reportedly ended earlier this year, previously hinted that the album was inspired by her personal experiences. However, when asked by Mel Ottenberg of Interview Magazine if it should be called a "revenge tour" in reference to her current press tour for the record, Allen firmly responded, "It isn't. I wrote this record in 10 days in December and now I feel differently about the whole situation. Breakups are always brutal, but I don't think it's often that you feel inclined to write about it while you're still in the midst of it."

The "Smile" singer added, "What's fun about this record is that it's viscerally like going through the motions. At the time, I was really trying to process my feelings, which is great for the album, but I don't feel confused or angry now. I don't need revenge."
The "Stranger Things" star and Allen reportedly separated after four years of marriage in February, having tied the knot in Las Vegas in 2020. Allen also noted to Ottenberg that the story she tells with "West End Girl" is partly "based on truth and some of it is fantasy."
Earlier this month, the "The Fear" artist also chatted with British Vogue about the inspiration for her fifth studio album, which dropped on Oct. 24. "There are things on the record that I experienced within my marriage, but that's not to say it's all gospel," she said at the time. "It is inspired by what went on in the relationship."
During her conversation with Ottenberg, Allen was also asked if she was currently dating anyone. She replied with a playful "Maybe," opening up about what it's like dating in the dating app era. "They're awful, especially if you're going through heartbreak," she shared. "There is nothing more depressing than hundreds of people that are nothing like the person that you're missing. It's just like, 'No, that's not him. That's not him. That's not him.'"
