Lindsay Lohan often ponders the question of why no one came forward to "shield" her more during her tumultuous teenage years. In an interview conducted for Vogue Arabia and published on Thursday, the Freakier Friday actress reminisced about the constant barrage of paparazzi attention she endured as a young woman, particularly after a series of legal entanglements and arrests that persisted until approximately 2013. "I should have listened to my parents and returned to New York. But I was young and had my heart set on being in L.A. And I didn't know any better. So, while some of it was exhilarating, it was also overwhelming when I was young. It was a double-edged sword," she told the publication. "Now, looking back, I wonder, 'Why didn't anyone just step in and take me away from there, protect me more?' You don't know how to navigate that yourself when you're a teenager."

Lindsay further noted that she has found a sense of tranquility ever since relocating to Dubai in 2014. "I wasn't having fun in the industry anymore," the 39-year-old continued. "I wasn't finding roles that resonated with me. It wasn't a life I wanted to live, you know? It wasn't a genuine existence. It pushed me so far away that I moved to the other side of the world. And I'm so glad I followed my instincts."
In another part of the conversation, Lindsay opened up about her domestic life. The Parent Trap star married financier Bader Shammas in 2022, and the couple welcomed a son named Luai the following year. "We're so well-suited because he's so calm and I'm like a firecracker," she smiled, adding that she appreciates the absence of paparazzi attention in the city. "It's a big breath of fresh air, not having to overthink everything you do every second."
Lindsay is next set to appear in Count My Lies, a Hulu miniseries co-starring Kit Harrington and Shailene Woodley. A release date has not yet been confirmed.
