On Saturday, February 22, Lindsay Lohan's father, Michael Lohan, found himself in legal hot water following multiple reports of his arrest over alleged assault against his estranged wife, Kate Major. According to various sources including People, TMZ, and Page Six, the 64-year-old Michael was apprehended without a hitch in Harris County, Texas, and slapped with a felony charge of "continuous violence against the family."
The narrative unfolds with Major expressing pain and discomfort during a hospital visit on the preceding day, February 21. She purportedly revealed to law enforcement officials that Michael had roughly dislodged her from a chair a few days prior. A female deputy, who examined Major, observed bruises on her body, as reported.
Michael was subsequently detained on a $30,000 bond, as confirmed by the aforementioned outlets. Us Weekly reached out to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office for further insights on the matter.
In a swift response to TMZ on Sunday, Michael, 64, vehemently denied the accusations. "I've remained silent for too long regarding Kate's physical, emotional, and verbal abuse," he exclaimed. "She orchestrated this whole setup. Initially, she claimed I was stalking her! Seriously? Lol. When that failed to stick, she resorted to alleging that I pushed her over a chair—a blatant falsehood. My children will vouch for my innocence, and I possess videos to back my claim. In fact, I have more footage documenting her abusive behavior," he added. (As of publication, Major had not publicly addressed Michael's assertions.)
Michael and Major, 42, tied the knot in 2014 and share custody of their two sons, Landon, 12, and Logan, 10. Major initiated divorce proceedings in 2018. Notably, Michael also has four children with his ex-wife, Dina Lohan, including the renowned Lindsay, 38.
The couple's relationship has been tumultuous over the years. In June 2024, Major was arrested for violating a protective order after an acrimonious confrontation with Michael in the middle of the road, as reported by TMZ at that time.
Previously, in February 2020, Michael was also arrested for allegedly assaulting Major in Southampton, New York. According to the Southampton Police Department, the domestic dispute transpired at the Lohans' residence, albeit the arrest occurred two miles away on Main Street. "He was apprehended without any incident," Sgt. Herman Lamison informed Us Weekly during that period.
Michael faced charges of "misdemeanor criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation (choking)" along with second-degree harassment, as stated by the sergeant.
