**Bug Hall, the star of Little Rascals, is opening up about his decision to leave Hollywood and embrace his newfound identity as a "radical Catholic extremist."**
Hall, born Brandon Rowan, told The Daily Mail that he has taken a "vow of poverty" and moved his family to an 80-acre plot near the town of Mountain View, Ark. They intend to go completely off-the-grid, and he will build their family home equipped with its own hydro-electrical dam, plumbing, and electrical systems.
The 40-year-old former child star, who famously played Alfalfa in the 1994 film, and his wife Jill have been married for eight years and share four daughters and one son. They welcomed their eldest daughters when they lived in Los Angeles. Hall decided to leave Hollywood in 2020, and the family briefly moved to Texas before heading to Michigan, then Ohio, and now Arkansas.
The self-proclaimed "medieval moralist" told The Daily Mail that he left the entertainment industry after he was arrested for allegedly huffing air duster cans during a June 2020 visit to his parents in Weatherford, Texas. He was booked on a misdemeanor possession charge, according to jail records obtained by PEOPLE. However, he said he faced no charges, and PEOPLE could not locate his criminal record. His arrest came after he had been sober for 15 years, but he told The Daily Mail that he suffered several relapses that were "brushed to the side" amid Hollywood's "high-energy" environment. After his arrest, Hall realized he didn't want to live a life of "manipulation" or "other people's expectations," including himself as an addict.
"I didn't want to go work some job that was basically meaningless, making widgets to entertain people or distract people," Hall told the outlet.
In an April 2025 YouTube video titled "Into the Unknown," Hall said that he no longer saw his career as being "congruous" with his faith. "It was a hard realization, but it was something that I was pretty firm on, and I still am. The irony was that I loved the work," he said. "I wasn't disillusioned in terms of my love of work. I really, really loved it. I loved film and TV and the process of storytelling more than any of you."
He said he donated most of his material possessions and all of his savings in an effort to "maintain a life as free of any need for an income as possible." "If there's a financial need that comes up, I'll go take some work or do an odd job for cash to fulfill that need," he explained.
In the YouTube video, he said that his possessions were "a big pile of nothing." "It really wasn't all that great of a sacrifice compared to what our Lord had planned to give me in return," he said. "The fruits of that decision to live this radical lifestyle."
The Get A Clue actor also told The Daily Mail that he is raising his children to be "extremists." He and his wife are homeschooling them and planning to "strongly discourage them" from attending a "nonsense" traditional school or college.
His mother, Twila, and step-father, Mark, as well as his brother, Gemini, and Gemini's wife and their six children, have also moved to rural Arkansas near Mountain View.
