It's been revealed that not all the rumors swirling around Lizzo are true. In fact, the "Rumors" singer came forward to set the record straight after online critics accused her of "taking the p--t" about Taylor Swift. An X user, on May 22, wrote about Taylor's latest album and Lizzo's 2025 mixtape respectively, stating, "The Life Of A Showgirl + MY FACE HURTS FROM SMILING — 4.005M," and "ICEMAN + MAID OF HONOUR + HABIBTI — 683k." Lizzo, 38, reshared the post which also featured a clip from her "STFU" music video and asked for some clarification from her fans, writing, "Can someone explain what this means?"
After an X user explained to the Grammy winner that "it means all that s--t talking you did about Tay finally caught up to you," Lizzo responded with a strong rebuttal. "Are you well?" she wrote. "First of all, I have never talked s--t about Taylor Swift. Also, while we're on the subject, I've never talked s--t about any artist. Just because I mention an artist by name doesn't mean I'm talking s--t. Grow tf up, please."

While the social media user didn't share details as to why they believed Lizzo dissed Taylor, the "Truth Hurts" rapper recently proved she has nothing but love for the "Opalite" singer. After all, Lizzo (real name Melissa Viviane Jefferson) gave Taylor a sweet shoutout while promoting her new song "BITCH," revealing she took inspiration from Taylor's 1997 hit of the same name.
"Shout-out to Meredith Brooks," she said on the May 15 episode of Genius Verified. "I want the whole world to know that this is her record." "I feel like that would've gotten lost in translation a little bit," Lizzo continued. "I was like, 'This is Lizzo's version.'" "You know how it's like, 'Taylor's Version?'" she added. "It's like, 'Bitch (Lizzo's Version).'"
But Lizzo's support of Taylor goes way back. The "Pink" singer has also compared herself to Taylor in how they both draw inspiration from their personal life, including their relationships and breakups, while making music. "I'm Black Taylor Swift," she joked during a 2022 appearance on The Breakfast Club radio show. "I really am. I'm trifling."
"I don't talk too badly about [an ex's] character," she shared. "It's just what he did. I'll be like, 'He's a good person, but this is what he did. Am I tripping?' They'd be like, 'You're not tripping, you're not tripping.'"
