Lizzo feels absolutely fantastic without resorting to weight loss medications. During a June 19 episode of the 'Just Trish' podcast, the chart-topping artist behind "Truth Hurts" confessed to her host, Trisha Paytas, that she had experimented with Ozempic and other GLP-1 medications—a family of drugs primarily prescribed for the management of type 2 diabetes and obesity. However, she ultimately concluded that this route wasn't the most effective means for her to attain her weight loss aspirations.
"I tried absolutely everything," Lizzo shared, elaborating on her early departure from GLP-1 medications. "Ozempic works by curbing your appetite, making you feel full with less food. But if you can achieve that naturally, by sheer willpower, it's essentially the same outcome."
The 37-year-old songstress, who has been chronicling her weight loss journey since 2023, revealed that the real turning point for her came with a seemingly minor tweak to her diet: incorporating meat. "What made the difference for me was giving up veganism," Lizzo continued. "When I was vegan, I indulged in a lot of fake meats, bread, and rice, consuming large quantities just to feel satisfied."
By reintroducing meat into her meals, she found it easier to consume foods that were devoid of "artificial sugars and bizarre additives." "When I started eating whole foods—beef, chicken, and fish—I felt genuinely full without stretching my stomach with all those fake fillers that left me unsatisfied," Lizzo enthused.
As for individuals who do opt to use Ozempic to reach their goals, Lizzo implored critics to refrain from viewing their choice as a form of "cheating." "It's far from easy," the Grammy Award winner emphasized. "It's a medication designed to assist someone grappling with a challenge." She further stated, "Calling someone a cheater for this is, in my opinion, an extension of fat phobia."
