Lizzo is diligently working on embracing a state of pure bliss. The renowned singer of "Truth Hurts" opened up about her mental health journey, revealing the social tools she employs to ease her anxiety. "For years, I've been striving to manage my anxiety," Lizzo confessed during a TikTok Live session on April 22th, as reported by People. "But then, I made a decision. I was ready to let go and fully embrace my true self, to be authentically happy."
Besides medication, the 36-year-old emphasized, "I isolated myself somewhat, but not in a lonely manner, not like how I used to when depression cloaked me. My isolation was purposeful, devoid of distractions."
"I used to drown my sorrows in people, food, alcohol, and self-created problems," she continued. "I thrived on distractions. But not anymore." Instead, Lizzo dedicated herself to self-care and overhauled her dietary habits.
"Every body is unique—discover what suits you best," she advised her fans about her new lifestyle, which included bidding farewell to coffee to "regulate my nervous system" and "adopting a calorie deficit approach, as I was prone to binge eating."
Elaborating on her diet, which now prioritizes "calories in versus calories out," Lizzo added, "That's simply how the human body operates."
For the "About Damn Time" rapper, who showcased her significant weight loss on social media earlier this year, this journey has been arduous. During a concert on March 12th, she shared, "About a year and a half ago, I was engulfed in a profound, dark depression."
"I was terrorized by the fear of being seen," she confessed to the audience, as captured in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter). "But eventually, I conquered that fear and attended a concert, much like this one."
Describing it as a "miraculous" encounter, Lizzo recounted how a stranger "reached out, and I reached back, and we embraced." "A complete stranger looked at me and said, 'Lizzo, I love you,'" she shared. "And it felt incredibly wonderful."
