Lizzo has transformed a lighthearted jibe at her expense from a recent "South Park" episode into an absolutely hilarious Halloween costume, showcasing her incredible sense of humor and creativity. The Grammy-award-winning singer posted a delightful series of updates on her verified Instagram account on Saturday, revealing her ingenious outfit. This included a mock drug box boldly displaying her name, adorned with minute warnings such as "FDA approved," "Diet suppressor," and "For single patient use only," adding a whimsical twist to the ensemble.
Instead of a traditional belt, Lizzo cleverly used a measuring tape to cinch the box-shaped dress tightly around her waist, adding an unexpected yet stylish flair to her look. Her first post featured an old-school print advertisement parody, posing the question, "Need self-love? Try Lizzo! Lose guilt, gain self-confidence." Alongside the image, she playfully captioned, "Okay Halloween… you can start now!"
Subsequent posts offered a snippet of a video, showcasing Lizzo dancing enthusiastically in her costume in front of a cutout of "South Park" character Cartman, while audio from the show's Ozempic episode played in the background.
The May episode, titled "South Park: The End of Obesity," poked fun at the surging popularity of weight-loss drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro, featuring a spoof advertisement for a fictional product named "Lizzo."
In one scene, "South Park" characters Sharon and Sheila chat about the "amazing" new drugs Sharon has been taking to manage her weight. However, since her insurance only covers weight loss drugs for diabetics, Sharon reveals, "There's a whole new obesity drug for those of us who can't afford Ozempic and Mounjaro."
The scene seamlessly transitions to a humorous commercial advertising "Lizzo," a drug that "makes you feel good about your weight and costs 90% less than Ozempic." The fake commercial's narrator boasts, "In case studies, 70% of patients on Lizzo no longer cared how much they weighed." The commercial continues, "Lizzo helps you eat everything you want and keep physical activity to a minimum… Ask about the power of not giving a f**k, with Lizzo," adding a string of whimsical side effects for good measure.
In her live reaction videos on Instagram and TikTok at the time, Lizzo exclaimed, "That's crazy! I just feel like, damn, I'm really that b*tch." She added, "I really showed the world how to love yourself and not give a f**k, to the point where these men in Colorado know who the f**k I am, and put it on their cartoon that's been around for 25 years," referring to "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, who met at the University of Colorado Boulder and set their iconic show in the state. Lizzo has been a long-standing advocate for body positivity and has openly spoken out about the body shaming she endures on social media platforms.
