Lola Young suffered a harrowing collapse while delivering a live performance at a bustling music festival in New York City. The 24-year-old singer was midway through her rendition of “Conceited” at the All Things Go Music Festival, held at the iconic Forest Hills Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 27, when she was overcome by a medical emergency. With the audience's eyes fixed on her, Young was swiftly but gently carried offstage by a dedicated medical team, as the crowd erupted in a chorus of cheers, showing their unwavering support.

Shortly after, Remi Wolf took to the stage, her voice tinged with concern as she addressed the assembled throng. “That was really f------ scary,” she confessed, her tone a mix of relief and anxiety. “But my friend Lola is backstage, and I can confirm she is okay,” she reassured the crowd, drawing a collective sigh of relief.

Doechii, too, paid tribute to Young during her own set, her words echoing through the stadium as a testament to the camaraderie and solidarity among the performers. Earlier in her performance, Young herself had opened up about the challenges she had faced in recent days. “I’ve had a tricky couple of days,” she admitted, her voice carrying a weight of vulnerability. “Sometimes life can really make you feel like you can’t continue, but you know what? Today I woke up and I made the decision to come here, and I wanted to be cool... and sometimes life can throw you lemons, and you just gotta make lemonade.”

Representatives for both Young and the All Things Go Music Festival did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on the incident on Sept. 27. Young’s onstage collapse came just a day after she was forced to cancel her appearance at Audacy’s We Can Survive concert on Friday, Sept. 26.

Her manager, Nick Shymansky, took to her Instagram Stories to share a heartfelt statement explaining the musician’s absence. “Due to a sensitive matter, Lola had to pull out from the performance,” he revealed. Shymansky hinted that the cancellation might be linked to Young’s mental health, a topic the star has been candid and open about. “There are [occasionally] days where myself and my team have to take protective measures to keep her safe,” he added. “She is an incredible person and always takes her fans, career, and performances seriously. I can only send huge apologies for the inconvenience caused.”

Young, an English singer-songwriter, rose to prominence with her 2024 hit “Messy.” She has since released three albums — 2023’s “My Mind Wanders and Sometimes Leaves Completely,” 2024’s “This Wasn’t Meant for You Anyway,” and “I’m Only F------ Myself,” which dropped on Sept. 19.

In 2022, Young opened up about her mental health struggles and her journey living with schizoaffective disorder, a diagnosis she received at the tender age of 17, in a candid and poignant Instagram post. “I can’t find the words to describe how much this diagnosis has affected my entire life, and my outlook on the world around me,” she wrote. “I have struggled immensely learning to accept this part of myself, and I am still learning.” Young went on to emphasize her humanity and resilience. “I have to remind myself that I am a regular f------ person, I am human, and I am, like everyone, capable of incredible things. My mental health condition does not define me. It is my superpower,” she declared, adding that she experiences “crazy f------ highs and immense lows,” and that she relies on medication to help manage her symptoms.
