Lorde Is Feeling ‘Very Active,’ Teasing That New Music Could Be Coming Sooner Rather Than Later: ‘I’m Excited to Find Out’

Adele's companion in the world of music, Lorde, has taken a similar approach to her career, opting for extended periods of time off between album releases to live life away from the glare of the spotlight. Like Adele, the "Man of the Year" singer has embraced long gaps between her endeavors, but after the customary four-year hiatus between her 2019 album, Virgin, and 2021's Solar Power, Lorde expressed her desire to return to fans with new music sooner rather than later.

During an interview with Variety, the 28-year-old singer discussed her excitement for the next chapter in her musical journey, stating that she is "excited to find out" where her sound may lead her next. In fact, she added, "I'm feeling incredibly active and don't need a break from being creative. I'm feeling insatiable, to be honest. So I've set the bar high and won't be going four years without a new release again."

Lorde's journey began with the release of Pure Heroine in 2013, followed by Melodrama in 2017. She also shared how her previous struggles with stage fright have subsided and how her pre-show rituals help keep her grounded and comfortable during performances. "I'm lucky that my stage fright is under control now," she said with a smile. "What do I do? I'm a bit of a witch. I always burn something or write something down before the show. It's not too crazy – I do push-ups and planks and more."

Her on-stage presence was evident during her recent performance at Los Angeles' Kia Forum last Saturday, where she closed the show with a special guest appearance by friend Charli XCX for their electrifying live rendition of their remix of "Girl, So Confusing." The dynamic duo had previously performed the song together during Charli and Troye Sivan's Sweat tour stop at New York's Madison Square Garden last September, and again during Charli's Coachella set in April.

After wrapping up the North American leg of her Ultrasound tour on Wednesday night (Oct. 22) at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Lorde will take a few weeks off before returning to the stage on Nov. 9 at Rockhal in Luxembourg for a European swing that will continue through a Dec. 9 show at Annexet in Sweden.
