Abbey Romeo and David Isaacman have ceased to be the milk to each other's chardonnay. The stars of "Love on the Spectrum" confirmed their breakup following numerous reports that they had called off their nearly five-year romance.

"Abbey and David spent four and a half years together and truly cherished the time they shared and each other," Abbey, David, and their families said in a joint statement to People. "At this juncture, they desire different paths and have decided to go their separate ways, but they remain friends, wishing each other the best."

The duo, who met on season one of the Netflix series, shocked fans with news of their breakup after they were seen going strong in season four of the show, which aired on April 1st.

After fellow cast members Madison Marilla and Tyler White announced their engagement in the latest season, Abbey, 27, began to contemplate the next steps in her own relationship with David, 31. She told her mom that she wanted to "be a bride so badly."

"I'm so happy for them," Abbey later told David about her fellow cast members. "Hopefully, we're next."

He responded, "Yes, we can only be engaged whenever the time is right. Besides, I love you to infinity and beyond."

And that love was mutual. After all, Abbey recently revealed what made her want David to be her boyfriend forever.

"He says things that make me feel good," she said on the March 24th episode of "We Need to Talk." "He covers my ears when there's a certain noise I don't like, for sensory reasons."

She also noted that they shared many passions, including Disney movies and their love for food.

"We're both carby people," she said, explaining how they both enjoyed foods like burgers, fries, and cheese pizza. "That's the other reason."

And Abbey's mom Christine Romeo revealed how their connection went beyond their common interests.

"First of all, David has an incredible family," she said on the episode. "The family and the sisters, it's just a love fest. They're just generous, kind, nice people. And David has all of those qualities."

"These are two people with autism," she added. "So whatever their relationship looks like is going to be what they decide."
