Lukas Gage is taking a contemplative look back at his brief foray into married life. The White Lotus actor recently opened up about his 2023 marriage to celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton, a union that came to an end after a mere seven months. Despite the fact that their Kim Kardashian-officiated wedding took center stage on The Kardashians, Lukas insists he wouldn't change a single thing. "No regrets," Lukas declared on the September 23rd episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast. "Hashtag no regrets for real."
Yet, it was undeniably a tough period for the 30-year-old, who confessed that he didn't even "know who that person" was—referring to himself during that time. Much of this confusion, he admitted, stemmed from the medication he was on. "There's this really wild way we sometimes go about prescribing medication to people," Lukas elaborated. "And I can joke about it, approach it with humility, and even laugh because, well, it's funny and makes for a good story."
But the Road House actor was quick to clarify that he didn't want to "lay the blame solely on that," as he genuinely believed he was "in love, happy, and just going with the flow." Or at least, that's what he thought he was feeling. "But there was this other side of me that—I didn't recognize myself at all," he admitted. "And everyone around me didn't recognize who I was either."
Once he came off the medication, Lukas said he "suddenly gained clarity," though it felt like he had just blown up his entire life. As for Chris, the hairstylist recently got candid about their short-lived relationship as well, sharing that just because the marriage didn't last, it didn't mean there wasn't real love between them. "You can love someone deeply and still not have a forever happy ending," he told Jay Shetty on the On Purpose podcast in August. "And just because it's not forever doesn't mean it didn't hold immense significance."
He continued, "Every relationship I've ever been in, I've learned so much from it—what matters to me in terms of boundaries, how I want to be loved, how I want to love—and that's a beautiful thing. It means you're constantly growing and evolving." The 42-year-old also took a moment to push back against those who thought he and Lukas were moving too quickly, considering they tied the knot in a Las Vegas wedding just two months after reports of their romance surfaced. "Moving fast doesn't always equate to being reckless," Chris explained. "Sometimes it means you're hopeful. Every relationship I've ever entered, I've done so with an open heart, and I have no regrets about that."
