During Sunday's grand 50th anniversary special of "SNL," Marcello Hernández's viral character Domingo ventured into an expanded universe, bolstered by the star power of some A-list friends. These stars included none other than Domingo's "smoking hot brother" Santiago, portrayed by the charismatic Bad Bunny, and Pedro Pascal bringing to life another sibling, Reynaldo.
The sketch, previously confined to a quartet of bridesmaids serenading the couple Kelsey (played by Chloe Fineman) and Matt (Andrew Dismukes), with a shocking revelation of Kelsey's affair with the dashing Domingo, evolved this time to include a group of groomsmen also breaking into song. Domingo, accompanied by Santiago and Reynaldo, stormed Kelsey and Matt's vow renewal ceremony, unraveling further secrets of Kelsey and Domingo's scorching liaison. Moreover, it was disclosed that Matt and Santiago had also struck up an unexpected camaraderie.
"Matthew's my buddy," sang Pascal as Santiago, to the catchy tune of "Espresso," while Carpenter, portraying a bridesmaid, danced nearby, adding, "He claims he's not bi, but we did have our moments."
Domingo's third appearance on "SNL50" marked a triumphant return, encircling the journey with Carpenter, whose song "Espresso" had been parodied in the original sketch that launched Domingo's viral phenomenon at the season's dawn.
This now-iconic character first debuted in an October episode hosted by Ariana Grande, where Grande starred in a sketch titled "Bridesmaid Speech," as one of Kelsey's bridesmaids crooning to her at her wedding. The smooth-talking Domingo made a subsequent appearance in a follow-up sketch in November, featuring host Charli XCX, where it was disclosed that Domingo and Kelsey had rekindled their flame during her babymoon, set to the rhythm of Chappell Roan's "Hot to Go!"
Hernández even reprised his role as Domingo on stage during one of Carpenter's concerts in November, cementing the character's rising fame.
So, where will Domingo and his brooding brothers emerge next, leaving audiences eagerly anticipating their next adventure?
