Katy Perry may have soared through the cosmos, but Mariah Carey reigns supreme in her own celestial realm. Nearly four months after the "ET" crooner embarked on a Blue Origin space adventure alongside Gayle King, Lauren Sánchez, and others, Mariah, the voice behind "Obsessed," admitted to being utterly oblivious to the historic journey during an August 7 interview on BBC Radio's Scott Mills Breakfast Show. "Did she really venture into space?" Mariah inquired about Katy, her tone tinged with astonishment. "Where exactly did she go? Did she orbit Earth and return?"

Despite the media frenzy that acompanied the expedition, Mariah seemed genuinely stunned by the revelation, further questioning, "She was actually floating up there? And this is for real?" Upon receiving confirmation, Mariah's admiration for her fellow pop icon shone through. "Wow, alright Katy," the 56-year-old exclaimed, her voice filled with pride. "I'm not upset with her. That's truly incredible."

As for whether the Grammy-winning songstress would ever contemplate taking a leap into orbit herself, the answer was a resounding no. With a chuckle, she remarked, "I believe I've accomplished quite enough here on Earth."

Mariah is certainly not alone in her reaction to the Jeff Bezos-backed voyage. Katy herself had addressed the diverse responses she received following the April 14 expedition. "I will continue to embrace my authenticity, with an open heart and honesty, especially because of our unbreakable bond," she penned in an April 29 Instagram post dedicated to her fans. "I cherish you all and have grown alongside you. I'm thrilled to see you across the globe this year! Please know I'm doing well. I've worked hard to understand who I am, what's genuine, and what matters most to me."

While Mariah is perfectly content with her terrestrial existence, Katy had previously revealed that the 11-minute space orbit had been a long-cherished dream. "I've harbored a desire to go to space for nearly two decades," she confided to Elle in an April 2 interview. "I explored every possible commercial option. When Blue Origin first hinted at commercial space travel, I was eager to sign up. I was at the forefront. And when they called, I couldn't believe it. 'Really? I've been invited?'"
