"Marty Supreme," A24's triumphant North American blockbuster, has officially claimed the top spot with a staggering $80 million in ticket sales, surpassing the previous benchmark set by "Everything Everywhere All at Once," which grossed $77 million domestically. Despite its global success, "Everything Everywhere," the Oscar-winning multiversal adventure, still holds the worldwide box office record for A24 with $142 million. "Civil War," Alex Garland's dystopian thriller, follows as the studio's second-biggest release worldwide, raking in $127 million.

"Marty Supreme," a film that has only been released in select international territories and will gradually expand its reach over the coming weeks, has amassed $17 million overseas and $97 million globally to date. The film, which premiered nationwide on Christmas Day and earned $27 million during the extended holiday period, is projected to bring in an additional $6.6 million between Friday and Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, bringing its domestic total to $80.8 million.

Timothée Chalamet, who delivered a press tour for the ages, played a pivotal role in spreading the word about the original film. However, "Marty Supreme" has remained a theatrical draw in the new year due to its ability to resonate with audiences. The frenetic, R-rated adventure follows the fictional ping-pong champ Marty Mauser as he goes through the wringer to pursue his dream of becoming a table-tennis champ.

As A24's most expensive film, costing $70 million to produce, "Marty Supreme's" box office staying power is crucial to justify its budget (considering theater owners keep about half of ticket sales). But the film has been proving its value to A24 beyond the balance sheet and through the awards circuit. Chalamet has won the Golden Globe and Critics Choice for best actor and is likely to find himself in the Oscar race when nominations are announced on Thursday. It's truly good to be Marty.
