On Wednesday morning, Odessa A'zion, who stars as Rachel Mizler in Josh Safdie's film Marty Supreme alongside Timothée Chalamet, awoke to the thrilling news that she had received an Actors Award nomination. Her initial reaction was one of genuine shock, as she exclaimed to Deadline, "What the hell?" her brain still in the process of processing the news. She further revealed that her co-star had already called to congratulate her, and their conversation was filled with excitement as they both acknowledged their shared accomplishment.

A'zion's character in Marty Supreme is an on-off lover of Timothée Chalamet's ping-pong champion character, Marty Mauser. Her portrayal has garnered significant attention, including a viral debate about whether her hair was a wig or not. In an interview on the Critics Choice red carpet this past Sunday, she addressed the chatter and remarked, "There's a whole debate, 'Is it a wig? Is it not?' I guess we'll never know."

On Wednesday, in response to the viral frenzy, A'zion said, "I didn't know that there was such a stigma behind wigs in particular." She further elaborated on her financial situation as an up-and-coming actor, stating that she couldn't afford to buy a high-end wig and was trying to save her money. Despite online criticism, she stood by her claim, saying, "I talked about money, but then I don't think people realize that for a large majority of your career, you're not making a lot of money."

She also revealed that her hair at the Marty premiere in LA was indeed a wig, but for the New York premiere, she went natural. "The New York [premiere] was my hair that I took literally five hours to do," she said. "Everyone thought it was a wig. And I'm like, 'Guys, can I get a little credit here? I didn't just put this on. This took me a hot minute.'"

When asked if she had received numerous offers for great roles since her newfound success, A'zion said, "You know what? I haven't been getting a ton of offers. I think a big part of it too is honestly, there's not a whole lot of leading or supporting juicy roles for women still - to be real."

Her dream is to continue playing roles like Rachel in Marty Supreme. "I really, really like playing roles like Rachel. She was such a dream role. I just thought she was so smart and calculated, and then she got to erupt... I like screaming, I like crying, I like going through real f**ked up shit. That's what's fun to me," she said.

Speaking of high-drama characters, A'zion also loves playing her "crazy girl" character of Talluluah in I Love LA. As for when Season 2 will begin shooting, she says, "I think late summer is what I've been told."
