Keanu Reeves has finally broken his silence on the ultimate fan debate: The Matrix or John Wick? The Canadian actor and musician, after teasing fans with the mention of three of his own films he would actually stop to watch, has now revealed his true preference. To the disappointment of John Wick fans, none of the franchise's movies made it to his top three list.

During a discussion at The New Yorker Festival, alongside his Waiting for Godot on Broadway costar Alex Winter and culture critic Naomi Fry, the legendary Hollywood actor was asked whether he watches old movies he stars in. "No, I mean, maybe while I'm scrolling or moving and thinking, 'There, oh yes, Point Break is on,'" the 61-year-old playfully revealed the first film, referring to his 1991 action flick in which he played an undercover FBI agent. "Or, 'Oh wow, Matrix, all right. [The Matrix] Reloaded, f--- yes,'" he added with a laugh, noting his 1999 and 2003 films from The Matrix franchise in which he starred as computer-hacker-turned-superhero Neo.
The Speed actor continued, "Anyway, not yet. … I haven't just put one on." While some of his fans shared his preference for The Matrix, others had different views. In a Reddit discussion, one fan raved over The Matrix, writing, "The Matrix. Even if you only factor in the first, it beats all the Wicks." Another added, "We would not have John Wick without the Matrix." However, according to the John Wick fanatics, the franchise has consistently improved in quality, making it better than The Matrix in the long run.
Reeves gained worldwide recognition as Neo in 1999's The Matrix, but the John Wick franchise of the last decade actually became the iconic actor's best overall franchise, as per a fan's take on the social media platform.
