This Valentine’s Day unfolded quite unusually for Mauricio Umansky. Rather than celebrating alongside his estranged wife, Kyle Richards, he found himself in a hospital bed, the victim of a harrowing skiing mishap. Once again, Aspen, Colorado served as the backdrop for one of Mau's daring escapades, though this time, the stakes were far higher. Mauricio believes that donning a helmet might have been the deciding factor between life and dire consequences.
On his previous visit to Aspen, Mauricio was renowned for his romantic antics, charming hearts and locking lips with models amidst the bustling streets. It's plausible that similar plans brewed for this February 14th, yet his day took a dramatic turn after a fateful ski run left him hospitalized.
Sharing a harrowing video of himself being whisked away from the mountain by the ski patrol, Mauricio provided a vivid glimpse into his harrowing ordeal. The wipeout was significant, and his subsequent Instagram Stories featured a poignant selfie from his hospital bed – a setup any reality star would cherish, yet Mauricio's expression conveyed sheer vulnerability.
"I am overwhelmed with gratitude to be cared for by such extraordinary individuals," he penned. "Ski patrol, paramedics, Aspen Hospital – you are all heroes. My clavicle is shattered."
Two days hence, Mauricio provided an update revealing that his fractured clavicle necessitated surgery, transforming a fleeting error on the slopes into a significant trial.
"Thank you to everyone who has reached out with love and support," he expressed in an Instagram post dated February 16th. Mauricio elaborated that while the break was "unmistakable," the surgical procedure involved an array of 12 screws and a metal plate – a daunting prospect, yet he remained optimistic about a swift recovery. He vowed to return to the vibrant streets of Aspen in no time.
"The doctors and nurses at Aspen Valley Hospital are nothing short of extraordinary," he continued. "Wearing a helmet undoubtedly saved my life."
