The Broadway production of "Moulin Rouge! The Musical" was halted abruptly for Megan Thee Stallion, as the "Hot Girl Summer" rapper was rushed to the hospital after falling ill during her performance on March 31st. Her representative shared with Complex, "During Tuesday night’s production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated." They added, "We will share additional updates as more information becomes available."

The news of Megan's hospitalization came just days after her highly anticipated Broadway debut as nightclub owner Zidler in the stage adaptation of the 2001 Baz Luhrmann movie. Her character was previously portrayed by Jim Broadbent on the big screen. Megan took over the role from Bob the Drag Queen, who finished his run as Zidler on March 22nd.
In a statement on February 26th, Megan expressed her excitement about joining the "Moulin Rouge! The Musical" team. "Stepping onto the Broadway stage is an absolute honor," she said. "I've always believed in pushing myself creatively, and theater is definitely a new opportunity that I'm eager to embrace." She added that Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation, and storytelling, and she's "up for the challenge."
After her first show on March 24th, Megan expressed her gratitude to be part of the production, which has won 14 Tony Awards—including Best Musical—since it first opened on Broadway in 2019. "So grateful for this incredible cast & crew and everyone who worked so hard to make opening night a success!!" she captioned an Instagram video of herself taking her bow onstage. "HOTTIES IM ON BROADWAY!!"
Megan's run is currently scheduled to end on May 17th.
