Meghann Fahy shared the same astonishment as her fans when she received an Emmy nomination for Best Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her performance in Netflix's "Sirens." Appearing on Wednesday's episode of "Late Night With Seth Meyers," Fahy admitted she was "utterly stunned" by the recognition for her work on the show. "I assure you, there wasn't even a hint of discussion about it among anyone on my team," she revealed to host Seth Meyers. "My team's reaction was, 'Oh my God!'"
Though delighted by the nomination, Fahy had little time to revel in the moment. "I was actually on set filming when my team called," she recounted. "I thought it was odd they were reaching out then. When I picked up, they started screaming. They shouted, 'And action!' and I responded, 'Bye!' before hanging up."
Fahy added that learning about her nomination was somewhat "anticlimactic," describing the experience as "wholly unexpected." This marks her second Emmy nomination, following a nod for Supporting Actress for her role in the second season of "The White Lotus."
This year, Fahy's nod is the sole acting recognition for "Sirens," though the show is also up for awards in categories such as Best Contemporary Costumes, Best Directing, and Best Picture Editing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at the 2025 ceremony.
In addition to discussing her nomination, Fahy spoke candidly about working with Julianne Moore in "Sirens." In the Netflix series, she stars as Devon DeWitt, who ventures to a coastal beach town to rescue her sister, Simone (played by Milly Alcock), who seemingly joined a cult led by Michaela Kell (Moore).
"On the first day, I had to look Moore straight in the eye and call her a bitch," Fahy recalled with a chuckle. "I was like, 'Um, okay. Throwing me in the deep end, huh? I like your style!'" She continued to praise Moore, jokingly adding, "Honestly, if she was a cult leader in real life, I'd be in that cult too."
Meyers agreed, saying, "I think I would be too. Usually, when you watch these shows, you're supposed to think, 'I don't trust this cult leader.' But I'm like, 'I might be down with most of this!'" He further joked, "I feel like Meghann's the bad guy. I don't know why she's trying to bust up this cult. Her sister definitely has a better life now."
