Mickey Rourke Defaults in Eviction Case, Lease on Los Angeles Home Canceled

Mickey Rourke's eviction case has come to a conclusion as a California court has ruled in favor of his landlord, Eric T. Goldie, in an unlawful detainer case. The judgment, which was filed on March 9 in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, was entered "by default," suggesting that the 73-year-old actor and former wrestler failed to respond to the complaint or defend himself within the stipulated time under California law. Consequently, Goldie has been granted possession of the property located on Drexel Avenue in Los Angeles.

The judgment also states that the rental agreement has been canceled and the lease forfeited, effectively removing Rourke's legal right to occupy the home. The order specifies that the judgment was for "possession only," meaning it was focused on returning control of the property to the landlord rather than awarding financial damages in the case.

The development follows a notice served on Rourke in December, demanding that he pay $59,100 in back rent or vacate the home within three days. In January, he was spotted moving his belongings out of the home, and around the same time, a woman named Liya-Joelle Jones, who described herself as the assistant to Rourke's manager, Kimberly Hines, launched a GoFundMe campaign to support the actor.

In a video shared on his Instagram on Jan. 5, Rourke addressed the campaign and expressed his frustration and confusion. He claimed he had no knowledge of it and said he would never ask for charity if he needed money. He said, "I'd rather stick a gun up my ass and pull the trigger." Referring to "whoever did this," he added, "I wouldn't know what a GoFundMe foundation is in a million years. My life is very simple; I wouldn't go to outside sources like that."

After Rourke's outburst, Hines told The Hollywood Reporter, "We said, 'Mickey, there are some people that want to help you out.' He's like, 'OK, great.' I don't think he understood, and now it's taken on this media frenzy, and he flipped out."

Rourke, who had been living in a West Hollywood hotel after moving out of the home, has since urged donors to reclaim their money.
