Millie Bobby Brown gave her "Stranger Things" co-stars the cold shoulder in favor of embarking on a fresh venture, surrounded by an all-new ensemble of screen partners. As the original cast of the beloved Netflix series gathered for the much-anticipated Broadway play, "Stranger Things: The First Shadow," which premiered on Tuesday, April 22nd, at the Marquis Theatre, Brown was conspicuously missing from the star-studded affair.
The 21-year-old actress, who has brought the character of Eleven to life in Matt and Ross Duffer's chilling series since its inception in 2016, opted to prioritize her commitments to "Enola Holmes 3" over the play's glittering opening night. It appeared as though she was engrossed in the filming of yet another Netflix phenomenon, as the streaming giant recently granted a tantalizing glimpse into the behind-the-scenes magic of the upcoming production.
Brown, who tied the knot with Jake Bongiovi, joins an esteemed list of returning cast members for the upcoming installment, including Henry Cavill, Helena Bonham Carter, Himesh Patel, Louis Partridge, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster, all under the directorial debut of Philip Barantini, whose credits include a contribution to Netflix's record-breaking film, "Adolescence."
On the night of "Stranger Things: The First Shadow's" Broadway debut, the red carpet was rolled out for an array of stars, including Brett Gelman, Cara Buono, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Jamie Campbell Bower, Matthew Modine, and Priah Ferguson, who all graced the event with their presence.
In addition to Brown, another original cast member, Sadie Sink, who portrayed Max Mayfield in the series' second, third, and fourth seasons, was also absent from the premiere. However, she did manage to attend the preview of "The First Shadow" on Monday.
