Ryan Murphy has reportedly secured the perfect portrayals of John F. Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy for his highly anticipated "American Love Story" anthology spinoff destined for FX. Pop culture enthusiast and writer, Evan Ross Katz, shared the exciting news on his Instagram page, revealing that Naomi Watts will embody the elegance of Jackie Kennedy, while newcomer Paul Kelly will step into the shoes of her iconic son, John F. Kennedy. Earlier announcements also revealed Sarah Pidgeon's casting as Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.
FX and 20th Television, where Murphy holds an expansive deal with Disney, remained tight-lipped regarding the casting revelations. "American Love Story" promises to chart the whirlwind romance and marriage of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Bessette-Kennedy, a union that captivated the nation.
Murphy's latest anthology series aims to recreate famous love stories that left the world mesmerized. During the 1990s, John F. Kennedy Jr. and Bessette-Kennedy, a Calvin Klein publicist, were regarded as America's royal couple. However, their fairytale love story began to falter under the relentless scrutiny of the tabloid media. The relentless pressures of their careers and the Kennedy family legacy culminated in a tragic end in 1999, when John F. Kennedy Jr.'s private plane plunged into the ocean off the Massachusetts coast.
Murphy, along with Brad Simpson, Nina Jacobson, D.V. DeVincentis, and Connor Hines, will produce the initial installment of the "American Love Story" anthology series for FX. Murphy has also expanded the "American Story" universe with another franchise, "American Sports Story." The inaugural season of "American Sports Story," which re-examines a significant sports event through the lens of contemporary society and narrates it from diverse perspectives, focuses on the life of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez.
