Natalie Portman made a mesmerizing entrance as Role Model's latest incarnation of "Sally," stealing the spotlight in a moment so unforgettable that it stole hearts and soared viral. On Monday, July 28th, Tucker Pillsbury, the 28-year-old artist behind Role Model, invited the 44-year-old actress to join him on stage during his electric rendition of the viral hit "Sally, When the Wine Runs Out" at Madison Square Garden. This magical collaboration swiftly gained traction on TikTok and was subsequently posted by one of Role Model's fan pages on Instagram, spreading like wildfire. Pillsbury humorously captioned the snippet he shared on his Instagram Stories as "Sally Portman."
Their paths unexpectedly crossed in New York City as costars in the upcoming romantic comedy Good Sex, which kicked off filming in the bustling metropolis. Directed by Lena Dunham, the film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Meg Ryan, Rashida Jones, Mark Ruffalo, and Tramell Tillman. For Pillsbury, this marked his acting debut.
In Good Sex, Portman stars as Ally, a couples therapist who, after a decade-long relationship that didn't work out, decides to re-enter the New York dating scene upon turning 40. She encounters men in their 20s and 50s, who teach her that "there is no set formula for good sex," according to the film's intriguing synopsis.
Pillsbury's "Sally, When the Wine Runs Out" became a viral sensation shortly after its release in February, featured on the deluxe edition of Role Model's album Kansas Anymore. During the Dallas stop of Role Model's No Place Like Tour on February 27th, influencer Jake Shane joined Pillsbury on stage during the song's performance, captivating the audience. "People loved it – they went wild," Pillsbury recounted to Billboard in May. "We thought, 'Why not make this a nightly tradition? We don't need a big-name cameo. It would be fun to recreate a Justin Bieber "One Less Lonely Girl" moment.'"
Since then, Pillsbury has invited a lucky fan to dance with him during "Sally" at his shows. One unforgettable night at Los Angeles' The Wiltern in April saw actress Reneé Rapp stepping into the role of "Sally," creating yet another memorable moment.
Netflix has yet to announce a release date for Good Sex. Meanwhile, Portman recently starred in Fountain of Youth, now streaming on Apple TV+.
