"I couldn't be more thrilled to dive back into the intricate world of our ruthless little spy family," says creator, writer, and executive producer Joe Barton in a statement. "To have so many of our incredible cast returning and to be able to add some of my absolute favorite actors to the mix is a joy unparalleled. The corridors of Downing Street will never be the same again."

Production on season two has kicked off in and around London, with a premiere date yet to be announced. In this new season, according to Netflix's description, "Helen (Knightley) continues to betray her nation's secrets to the Black Doves, but after the perilous events of last Christmas and with her husband Wallace (Buchan) preparing to ascend to the Prime Minister's office, she finds herself walking a thin line more treacherous than ever. As Helen's enigmatic handler Mrs. Reed (Lancashire) becomes embroiled in a ruthless plot to undermine her position in the Black Doves, she is reunited with her dear friend Sam (Whishaw), now reduced to lonely drinks in Soho bars and low-rate hits. As they search for answers, loyalties are tested, trust is shattered, and the fight to protect those they love could cost them everything."

Mod (known for "One Day") will play Laila, an "acerbic and anarchic" Black Doves agent sent to assist Helen. Ceesay, following his role in FX's "Alien: Earth," takes on the role of Mr. Conteh, an executive at the Black Doves. Riley will portray Patrick, a mysterious figure who offers Sam a lifeline. While details on the other actors' roles are being kept under wraps for now, we do know that Campbell (from the "Scream" franchise and "The Lincoln Lawyer") plays Cecile Mason; Hoeks (from "Blade Runner 2049") plays Katia Chernov; Kostic (from "Ant-Man and the Wasp") plays Alexi Chernov; and Barnett (from "Lee") plays Jerry.

Barton executive produces "Black Doves" through his Noisy Bear company, with Jane Featherstone and Chris Fry of Sister and Knightley also serving as executive producers. Callum Devrell-Cameron is the series producer, while Julian Farino and Kieron Hawkes will direct in season two.
