In a candid interview with L'Officiel, Nicole Kidman divulged that her participation in Hollywood's grand-scale productions is never solely motivated by a paycheck. Renowned for her illustrious career in indie films and poignant dramas, she often faces quizzical inquiries whenever she embarks on projects like the 'Aquaman' franchise or her iconic role as Dr. Chase Meridian in 1995's 'Batman Forever.'

"People inevitably ask, 'Why are you doing this?'" Kidman reminisced, referring to the buzz surrounding her casting in 'Batman Forever.' "And I think, 'Because it allows me to lock lips with Batman, for starters!' But the truth is, it's never just about the money. Many of these mainstream blockbusters I undertake are endeavors that aspire to be unique and distinctive."

Echoing similar sentiments regarding her portrayal of Queen Atlanna in both 'Aquaman' and its sequel, 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,' Kidman admitted that while she might not have harbored a lifelong fascination with the comics, she was deeply passionate about collaborating with director James Wan and his storied horror films. In fact, when Wan initially approached her for the role, she mistook it for a horror project, an offer that left her ecstatic.

"I had longed to work with him in the realm of horror," Kidman confessed, her enthusiasm palpable.

More recently, Kidman's foray into premium television series has garnered just as much acclaim as her silver screen endeavors. Her Emmy-adorned performance in HBO's 'Big Little Lies' marked the dawn of a thriving TV career, which has since expanded to include 'The Undoing,' 'Expats,' 'Nine Perfect Strangers,' and the highly anticipated Netflix limited series, 'The Perfect Couple.'

"I've grown to adore the extended narrative format," Kidman confessed to L'Officiel. "There's something deeply satisfying about gradually crafting a character within a finite structure. It's not a colossal time commitment, yet it retains a cinematic essence. It's more of a slow-burning narrative, unlike films where you're confined to telling your story and shaping a character within the confines of two hours."

'The Perfect Couple' arrives on Netflix on September 5th, promising viewers an immersive tale woven by the talented hands of Nicole Kidman.
