North West Makes Instagram Debut Despite Dad Kanye West’s Past Disapproval

North West has made her presence felt on the digital realm, as she recently embarked on her Instagram journey under her own account with a chic and stylish post. In the captivating snapshot, the 12-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West posed for the camera, holding up peace signs while looking away, with the caption "first post" accompanying her Dec. 19 upload.

In the photo, North exuded her passion for fashion in a black mini skirt, a graphic t-shirt, and bedazzled boots, accessorized with statement jewelry that glittered in the light. Despite her Instagram bio stating that her account is "managed by parents," Kanye, who also shares children Saint, 10, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6, with Kim, has previously expressed his disapproval of the SKIMS founder's decision to allow their children to be on social media.

In a 2022 video, Kanye was heard saying, "Hey everybody, I just got off the phone with Kim, and I told her to stop antagonizing me with this TikTok thing." His comments followed North's TikTok video of herself singing along to Machine Gun Kelly's hit "Emo Girl," alongside her cousin Penelope Disick, on their joint TikTok account launched in 2021. "I am her father," he continued. "I know y'all don't respect fathers and the idea of family and the media tries to promote something. I said, 'I'm not allowing my daughter to be used by TikTok, to be used by Disney.' I have a say so."

Kim swiftly responded to her husband's comments hours later on Instagram Stories. "Kanye's constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media are actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create," she wrote. "As the parent who is the main provider and caregiver for our children, I am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity in the medium that she wishes with adult supervision - because it brings her happiness."

Kim has been vocal about supporting her oldest daughter's style choices, which have recently included bleached eyebrows and a finger piercing. "I'm like, 'Babe, if you want blue hair, it is what it is,'" Kim told Alex Cooper on the Oct. 15 episode of Call Her Daddy. "It makes her so happy. I would never take that creativity away from her." She continued, "She'll be like, 'Mom, I saw this and I don't really care if someone says they don't like my blue hair or my this or that.' She's really confident and is like, 'I probably wouldn't be hanging out with those people.'"
