As Olivia Rodrigo concludes her Guts World Tour in 2025, she is poised to embark on a well-deserved respite. When Billboard's deputy editor, Lyndsey Havens, inquired about her plans post-tour, which will extend its reach to Brazil, Mexico, Ireland, and the U.K. next year, Rodrigo enthusiastically shared, "I can't wait to just veg out on the couch and indulge in an abundance of delicious food."
Rodrigo was honored as the Touring Artist of the Year at Billboard's 2024 Live Music Summit in Los Angeles on November 14th. Her Guts World Tour had reportedly grossed an impressive $184.6 million from over 1.4 million tickets sold, according to Billboard Boxscore statistics.
After each exhilarating performance, Rodrigo revealed that she promptly exits the stage to ice her feet, which she playfully described as a "really sexy" routine. "I jump around so much that my calves get sore," she said. "So, I ice them, take a shower, remove my makeup, and retreat to the hotel. It's not as thrilling as it sounds. There's a striking transition from being in front of thousands of people to being alone in a hotel room."
While on tour, Rodrigo admitted that performing "All-American Bitch," a song that features her floating above the audience on a crescent moon, is particularly cathartic for her. "There's a part where I encourage the audience to scream out their hates and frustrations," she explained. "It's incredibly empowering. It feels like a rage room, where you can let go of all your emotions anonymously among thousands of others. I cherish that aspect of music."
Rodrigo's stage energy rivals some of her all-time favorite live performers, including Beyoncé and Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs. In October, she released her tour documentary, Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour, on Netflix. Watching the film, Rodrigo admitted it was challenging to avoid self-criticism. "I kept reminding myself to be kind to myself," she said. "It's strange because I know the show intimately, having performed it countless times. While watching, I thought, 'Why are you so nervous? You've got this, girl!'"
Regarding any surprises from seeing herself perform, Rodrigo noted, "I was working out a lot during the tour. When I watched the footage, I realized I had muscles in my arms for the first time in my life. That was a pleasant shock."
