Netflix sets its sails for uncharted waters once more, reaffirming its commitment to the live-action adaptation of "One Piece" with an early renewal for season three. This announcement was made at an annual gala celebrating Eiichiro Oda's iconic manga in Tokyo, months ahead of the highly anticipated season two premiere slated for 2026. Ironically, this renewal comes much sooner than that of season two, which followed the series debut in 2023 by a mere couple of weeks.
Furthermore, Netflix revealed that Ian Stokes will join Joe Tracz as co-showrunner for season three, which is poised to commence filming later this year. Stokes, who penned two episodes and served as a co-executive producer for season one, brings his expertise to the helm. Notably, former co-showrunner Matt Owens departed in March, having shared the responsibilities with Tracz for season two, while Owens and Steven Maeda had led the first season together.
Accompanying the renewal news, Netflix unveiled a teaser for season two of "One Piece," depicting Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and the Straw Hat Pirates venturing into fresh adventures, with fleeting glimpses of several new characters. Watch the teaser below to catch a sneak peek.
Dubbed "Into the Grand Line," season two promises a thrilling journey for Luffy and his pirate crew as they set sail into the legendary Grand Line — a mystical sea teeming with peril and wonder at every corner. As they traverse this unpredictable realm in pursuit of the world's greatest treasure, they will encounter peculiar islands and face a myriad of formidable foes.
Returning for season two alongside Godoy are series regulars Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero, and Taz Skylar. Ilia Isorelys Paulino, Jeff Ward, and Michael Dorman will also reprise their roles. The expansive cast for season two further includes Charithra Chandran, Joe Manganiello, Katey Sagal, Lera Abova, Mark Harelik, Sophia Anne Caruso, Yonda Thomas, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Brendan Sean Murray, Callum Kerr, Camrus Johnson, Clive Russell, Daniel Lasker, David Dastmalchian, Jazzara Jaslyn, Julia Rehwald, Rob Colletti, Ty Keogh, Werner Coetser, Rigo Sanchez, James Hiroyuki Liao, Mark Penwill, and Anton Jeftha. Mikaela Hoover will lend her voice and face capture to Tony Tony Chopper.
Executive producers for season two include Owens, Tracz, Oda, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements from Tomorrow Studios, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe, and Maeda. Stokes will assume the role of executive producer for season three.
