This is Paul Rudd, the actor from "This Is 40," who has candidly admitted to having a few run-ins with the law. He detailed two separate incidents that occurred before he became a household name.
"One time, I was in a car with my friend Mike, who was driving. We were having a water gun fight with our friends who were in another car," he recalled on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, hosted by Benny Blanco and Lil Dicky in their May 19 episode. "Mike pulled over, and we were confronted by a law enforcement officer who had a gun trained on us. He told us to hand over the water guns slowly and prayed it was just a water gun."
The Ant-Man star added, "I was just 16, and I couldn't believe he had a gun on me for something as harmless as a water gun fight."
After Mike received a ticket for reckless driving, Paul also received a citation for being an accomplice. "Maybe he was just trying to teach us a lesson," Paul speculated. "But I wound up having to go to court for that."
The second incident involved Paul's college days. "And then there was the time I was in college my freshman year and I 'killed' someone," he quipped. "But let me tell you, it was hard to get out of."
Though he didn't actually take a life, Paul was caught with an alcoholic beverage before the legal drinking age of 21. "I was new to drinking, I'll be honest," he recalled. "Cops came around and I was underage, so I just dumped it."
After a cop caught him trying to get rid of the evidence, Paul – who has children Jack, 17, and Darby, 13, with his wife Julie Yaeger – noted that he wasn't "technically" arrested but did have to do community service. And during his community service hours at the Boys & Girls Club, he got an old-fashioned beating.
"The students prompted the counselors to get involved in what was supposed to be an innocent boxing activity, and a kid kicked my ass," Paul said with a chuckle. "But even then, I thought it was really funny."
