Pete Davidson's tattoo removal journey appears to be progressing smoothly. On October 23, the 30-year-old former 'Saturday Night Live' star stepped out for a sneak preview of 'The Room' at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, giving fans a glimpse of his newly streamlined appearance.
Posing alongside rapper Machine Gun Kelly, Davidson's arms were mostly bare, a stark contrast to his previous ink-laden look. His arms, once adorned with countless small tattoos, now sported a much cleaner aesthetic.
Davidson wore a red FDNY T-shirt featuring the organization's logo, followed by the words "Fire Dept. of New York," presumably in tribute to his late father, Scott Matthew Davidson, a New York City firefighter who perished in the 9/11 attacks in 2001.
In 2020, Davidson first revealed his plans to embark on the lengthy process of tattoo removal. During a Q&A session for his film 'The King of Staten Island,' he disclosed that he had already begun the removal process on his hands, according to film critic Mike McGranaghan, who was on the panel with the cast.
During a 2021 episode of 'Late Night with Seth Meyers,' the comedian confirmed his decision, stating that his burgeoning film career had prompted him to pursue tattoo removal. "I honestly never thought that I would get an opportunity to act, and I love it a lot," Davidson told host Seth Meyers. "It takes, like, three hours to cover all your tattoos. For some reason, people in movies don't have them that much."
A few months later, Davidson provided an update to PEOPLE about the removal process, expressing his hope to complete it by age 30. "I get my next treatment in like a month or so. They said by the time I'm 30, they should all be gone. So they got like two more years left of this," he explained.
By January 2023, Davidson was photographed shirtless while enjoying a beach day with his then-rumored girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders. By then, he had removed even more tattoos, including all of the ones dedicated to his ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian, whom he dated for nine months.
The 'Bodies Bodies Bodies' star had a tattoo that read "My girl is a lawyer" (referencing Kardashian passing the baby bar in December 2021) and the initials "KNSCP" (representing Kardashian and her four children's initials: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm, whom she shares with her ex-husband Kanye West). He also had the names "Aladdin" and "Jasmine" and an infinity sign, inspired by their 2021 'Saturday Night Live' sketch where they kissed for the first time.
This appearance in Inglewood marks one of Davidson's first public sightings in months. In July, Davidson checked into a wellness facility for his mental health, as reported by PEOPLE. Prior to that, he sought treatment to address issues related to PTSD and borderline personality disorder in 2023. A source told PEOPLE at the time that Davidson's mental health has "always been a priority" for him, who has been open about his sobriety journey and his history with PTSD.
Earlier this year, the comedian performed at over 200 live stand-up comedy shows across the United States, participated in several film projects, and released his second Netflix comedy special, 'Turbo Fonzarelli,' in January.
