Pete Davidson is baring his soul about how the relentless glare of fame has colored his girlfriend Elsie Hewitt's pregnancy journey, confessing a profound sense of "guilt" for exposing her to the spotlight during what is supposed to be an intimate and cherished period. During an appearance on the 'The Breakfast Club' podcast, the comedian poured his heart out, saying, "I feel terrible for my girl because I bring a lot of baggage. Anything we do, or she does now, becomes a spectacle."
Davidson elaborated that both he and Hewitt cherish their privacy, but his public persona has made this almost unattainable. The 31-year-old emphasized that what haunts him most is the impact this attention has on Hewitt. "I'm genuinely distressed because... she's incredibly private, and she's the one enduring it all. She's the one carrying the weight," he shared, his voice laden with emotion.
He continued, "It's meant to be a wondrous journey," clarifying that Hewitt has never once expressed dissatisfaction or made him feel guilty. Yet, the former 'Saturday Night Live' star cannot shake off the conviction that he's depriving her of something precious. "I feel so guilty and terrible that in any capacity, I couldn't facilitate an unspoiled pregnancy—the kind almost every woman deserves and savors," he lamented.
Despite his qualms, Davidson noted that Hewitt has always been compassionate and understanding. "Fortunately, she adores me and knows what comes packaged with me, and we discussed it before our relationship deepened, but I still feel terrible for her in this regard," he said, his voice tinged with regret.
The comedian also disclosed that Hewitt had hoped to keep their pregnancy news under wraps for longer, but they eventually felt compelled to share it. "She didn't want to post" the announcement in July, Davidson explained, highlighting that they "weren't given a choice." Hewitt eventually confirmed the news on Instagram with a playful caption: "Welp, now everyone knows we had sex."
As the couple eagerly awaits the arrival of their firstborn, insiders close to Davidson attest to his exhilaration about fatherhood. "Pete is thrilled about this next chapter," a source previously told Page Six, adding that his family is equally delighted about welcoming a new addition to their fold.
