Pete Davidson is opening his heart about the pivotal role his mother played in his path to sobriety. During a candid conversation on Theo Von's podcast, "This Past Weekend," on Tuesday, Sept. 23, Davidson reflected deeply on the unwavering support he has received from his mom, Amy, and how her poignant words propelled him toward transformation.

“She’s been the most supportive ever,” Davidson, 31, remarked with genuine affection. “It reached a point where she called me while I was in rehab, and she said, ‘My biggest fear is that I’ll turn on the news and see that my son has died.’” The comedian admitted that those words struck a profound chord within him. “Exactly. And that f***ing crushed me. So I was like, ‘Alright, you can’t die until she’s gone, at least,’” he shared, emphasizing how much her love and resilience mean to him. “My mom’s the most supportive person in the world. She’s a cool lady. The best.”

Davidson went on to paint a vivid picture of his mother as someone who dedicated herself entirely to raising him and his sister after the tragic loss of his father, Scott Davidson, a New York City firefighter who perished on 9/11. “She never dated after my dad died. She just raised me and my sister single-handedly and worked tirelessly,” he revealed, his voice filled with admiration.

The actor also expressed his profound gratitude for having such a close-knit family. “I’m a lucky guy in that regard. I have an incredibly supportive, amazing family that has never asked me for anything. And they should [and] they could, but they don’t, even though a lot of them need stuff,” he said, his tone reflecting a mix of appreciation and humility.

On another note, Davidson recently shifted his focus to the criticism Pedro Pascal has faced amid his meteoric rise to fame. Reflecting on the volatility of public opinion, he observed, “They can’t wait, right? F***ing two years ago, he was a hardworking, great actor. Everyone was like, ‘He’s worked so hard and has been a struggling actor.’ Then he f***ing blows up so f***ing hard. Everyone’s like, ‘Daddy, daddy! Yeah, daddy, daddy.’ Then a year later, he’s in everything now because he’s hot and big, and suddenly everyone’s like, ‘Go the f*** away, dude.’”

Davidson condemned what he perceives as a culture of tearing celebrities down as soon as they achieve success, urging people to cut Pascal some slack.
