The beloved Albanian pop icon Shpat Kasapi has passed away at the age of 40, succumbing to a sudden heart attack. As per the Daily Star, he breathed his last on Wednesday in Monza, Italy, where he and his wife Selvije Jao were seeking medical advice for their young son Roel.

Selvije shared a heart-wrenching post about her husband's passing, writing that he died in her arms. "You left us here alone, without you," she wrote on her Instagram Stories, alongside a photo of her husband holding their son. "You died in my arms. How close we were, how cooperative we were in maintaining our privacy," she further wrote, adding, "You always told me you would love me until death do us part. Why did you die in my arms? Why did you break my heart like this, my love?"
The singer concluded her post with, "I hope to meet you in Heaven. God wanted you close to him, but I can't wait to wake up from this nightmare and find you here with us again."
Singer Bebe Rexha, who has Albanian roots, also shared a tribute after learning the news. Rexha posted a clip of Kasapi singing, captioning it with an emoji of a white dove and an Albanian flag.
Kasapi married Selvije in 2021, and the couple lived in Tirana, Albania after meeting each other during the filming of one of his music videos. He rose to fame in the early 2000s with hits including Ajo Me Mungon (I Miss Her), Valle Kosovare (Kosovar Dance), Dashni Pa Limit (Love Without Limits), and Aroma e Saj (Her Aroma).
