"She has been an extraordinary source of strength throughout this entire year. I am confident that she is eagerly anticipating tonight's success," added the 42-year-old royal with a sense of pride.

In March, Princess Catherine, also 42, disclosed that she had temporarily stepped back from public appearances and royal responsibilities, sparking widespread online conjectures. In a heartfelt video announcement, the princess revealed that she had received her diagnosis following "a significant abdominal surgery" in January. She further elaborated that she was undergoing preventive chemotherapy and harbored hopes for a complete recovery.

In March, she elaborated that her period of withdrawal from the public eye was not merely a convalescence from her surgical procedure but also a collaborative effort with Prince William to elucidate her health status to their trio of young royals, Princes George and Louis, and Princess Charlotte. She emphasized the need to devise a method that was consonant with their understanding and to assure them of her impending recovery, stating, "We sought a way that is suitable for them, and to put their minds at ease about my wellbeing."

In September, Princess Catherine heralded the conclusion of her chemotherapy treatments, acknowledging, "The past nine months have posed unparalleled challenges for our family." Through a posting on X (formerly Twitter), she shared, "Life, as perceived, can metamorphose in the blink of an eye, compelling us to navigate treacherous waters and traverse uncharted paths." Additionally, the princess announced her resumption of royal duties, encompassing public engagements.

During his event on Wednesday, Prince William delved into the detrimental ramifications of the wildlife trade and the "excessive exploitation of nature," commending honorees who he deemed pivotal in addressing environmental dilemmas. He emphasized, "The coming five years are indispensable for the destiny of life on this planet. The sense of urgency is tangible as entire segments of the species chain are being decimated. As we peer into the horizon of 2030 and beyond, we possess both the prowess and the chance to alter this trajectory."
